Isn't it awesome that just like a yummy recipe, a great work of art, and a musical masterpiece, even dirt needs great composition to ensure a building sits properly on the earth?! Thank goodness for knowledgable people who know just the right mix of large-, mid-, and small-grain fill for soil under and around such a large building!

The Steel Arrives!
It's fun to think about the weight of such a huge building. The steel alone used to build The PEAC weighs nearly 30 TONS (2.5 lbs per square foot of space)! Every element must be meticulously engineered to ensure the safety and stability of the building as it must support enormous loads of pressure from sheer weight and outside forces.

The Footings are in!
They've dug down deep, set forms, and poured yards and yards of concrete! Our foundation for The PEAC is strong! We can't help but think of the similarity between laying a strong foundation to hold up this huge building and the strong foundation for a life-long love of learning we are striving to instill in each and every Stepping Stones student!

Official Ground Breaking Ceremony
Nothing brings a new, exciting project to life more than a Ground Breaking Ceremony! Because the weather was so cold outside and we wanted to be sure to include our young friends during the event, we held the ceremony in the Candlelight Room of Stone Gate across the street. We were honored to have the Mayor Guy Fugal, several Pleasant Grove City officials and Council members, representatives from the Pleasant Grove-Lindon Chamber of Commerce, and several business leaders, friends and family members, and of course, a few of our sweet preschool friends join us for this momentous occasion.
